Right Plant, Right Location

The right plant for the right location can save the do-it-yourself gardener time and money. Each plant species has adapted to different cultural requirements. For instance, a rhododendron is an under story plant which means it requires some shade, and a compost rich soil. So by planting the rhododendron in this environment it is more likely to establish quickly and grow and flourish to its full potential. It’s also less likely to be infected by pests and diseases.

The same concept applies to the cacti or succulents that require dry, arid locations and little organic material in the soil.

By studying the natural environment of your area and becoming more knowledgeable about the plants that thrive locally, you can choose plants that will grow well in our garden. And don’t forget the native plants that have already adapted to our soil and environment and require less care.
